A Salute to The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (But Mostly Tigger)

Today we will take a look at The Many Adventure of Winnie the Pooh located at Disney’s Magic Kingdom. The attraction is a classic dark Fantasyland style dark ride, which controversially replaced the popular Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride in 1999. It also replaced Country Bear Jamboree out at Disneyland in 2003 making it a legit legend killer when it comes to attractions.

The ride is based on the 1977 movie of the same name, and takes you through all the various short stories contained in the film. Considering the year which this was built, the lack of any new technology used is a bit disappointing. Pooh’s Hunny Hunt was already in development around the same time for Tokyo Disneyland, and that attraction is far superior to what we have here. If someone told me The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh was built around the same time as Peter Pan’s Flight (an opening day attraction for Disneyland in 1955), I would not think twice about it if I didn’t already know better.

That being said, its still a fun attraction. We love Fantasyland style dark rides and this does nothing to change that.

We start things off with a blustery day…

If you look to the left when entering Owl’s house, you can see Mr. Toad signing over the Deed. Similarly, in the Disneyland version you can find Max, Melvin and Buff mounted on the wall directly behind you when entering the house.

The main thing this attraction has going for it is that it has Tigger. I got a Tigger stuffed animal at Magic Kingdom when I was 3 years old. He was my favorite character as a kid and I made my parents put on The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh time after time just to see Tigger. I still get my photo taken with him whenever I can. He’s awesome!

I’ve also always loved the Heffalumps and Woozles song. It’s a trippy, entertaining part of the film as well. I was thrilled back when it was included in the Disneyland Forever fireworks in 2015.

And the rain rain rain, came down down down, the rain rain rain came down…

As is common with older Fantasyland style rides, we get a fairly abrupt happy ending!

Overall, we enjoy The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. It’s one of the easiest 4th, 5th, 6th, etc… same day fastpasses to get so we don’t recommend booking one ahead of time for it. We also don’t recommend riding standby unless the wait is under 20 minutes.
