We return to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party to check out the 2019 version of Mickey’s Boo To You Parade.
As we’ve stated before on this blog, this is our favorite Disney parade. This year adds two Tomorrowland segments with The Incredibles and Toy Story, as well as The Haunted Mansion bride to the mix.
The parade is exclusive to Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, and runs twice per event. The parade kicks off at both 9:15 and 11:15. Each parade starts in Frontierland and ends up at Town Square. It’s easiest to view the parade from Frontierland, however we much prefer the ambiance of Main Street.
If you are hoping to view the first parade from Main Street, it could take quite the time investment. The very best spot is in the center of Town Square, looking straight up Main Street (behind the Roy and Minnie statue).
This area sees folks camping out for up to 2 hours before the first parade and is reserved for guests of Cruella’s Halloween Hideaway for the second.
For a front row viewing spot along either side of Main Street you are probably looking at having to grab a spot 60-90 minutes prior to the 9:15 start time. Then the parade will not arrive at Main Street for another 20 minutes or so and runs for 15 minutes once it does. So you are looking at roughly a 2 hour commitment, give or take 15 minutes.
If you don’t want to put that kind of time in, you can find a spot in Town Square much closer to start time. We’ve had great luck in the past grabbing spots both right in front of Town Square Theater, or the Main Street train station just a few minutes before the parade kicked off.
The second parade has always been much easier to grab a good spot in the past. While this is still true for the most part, its definitely not as easy as it used to be. Thanks to increased party attendance, as well as Disney actively suggesting that guests view the 2nd parade for lower crowds (it says it right in the guide map this year), more folks are opting to watch the later parade instead.
Still, if you arrive at Main Street by 10:30 – 10:45, you should be able to grab a front row spot on either side of Main Street. The closer to the castle you get, the earlier it will fill up.
There isn’t much more to say that we haven’t said in the past about this wonderful piece of Disney entertainment. If you wish to read more about it, check out our posts on the 2018 Boo to You parade here and here. From here on out, I’ll keep the commentary to a minimum and let the photos do the talking!
Note: These photos were taken from the reserved viewing area as part of Cruella’s Halloween Hideaway which we review in full here.
The Headless Horseman arrives at Main Street shortly after the official start time since he travels much faster than the rest of the parade.
Since there is still another 15 – 20 minutes to go until the rest of the parade arrives, the Zootopia Party Patrol comes out and tries to keep the fun going.
The change in moods is a little jarring but its fun none the less. This is the only place to see Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps during the event.
Note: They only perform on Main Street and Town Square so you won’t see them from the Frontierland, Liberty Square or the hub.
Finally, the main parade should arrive around 11:35 for the 2nd show.
Unfortunately, I was viewing this parade with Josh from over at easywdw.com (a great site) and he refused to fill in all the available space of our viewing area. This resulting in the parade arriving about 10 minutes late.
Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Daisy all have new costumes this year!
As usual, Donald’s is the best!
While the floats are fine, the street performers are what sets this parade apart. The Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion segments alone make this WDW’s best parade.
The Haunted Mansion segment has two sets of street performers alone. The grave diggers above along with the ballroom dancers below. We also get floats for the cemetery, as well as the hitchhiking ghosts.
This year, the spectral bride has joined the ballroom dancers and she is nothing short of awesome. She literally floats around among the dancing spirits.
This appears to be the pre-Constance version of the bride as she is holding flowers rather than a hatchet.
Clarabelle is always a welcome addition to anything!
As are the Splash Mountain gang and the Country Bears of Frontierland!
While the bride was a home rum, the Tomorrowland additions are kind of meh. There is nothing about them that says Halloween, which makes them feel out of place with the rest of the parade.
At least they didn’t take anything out of the old parade in order to put these in.
We really should just take a second to appreciate all the wonderful Disney cast members out there. This parade is made by a huge team of CM’s giving 110% and the result is pure magic!
The parade appropriately ends with a large cast of Disney villains.
They are ushered in each year by this fun skeleton rock band!
Several of the villain characters are rare sights in the parks, including Pain and Panic from Hercules.
The last sight you will see is this haunting gaze of the Evil Queen. A perfect way to end the parade!
Overall, this continues to be one of our very favorite pieces of Disney entertainment. It features tons of rare characters, tons of entertaining street performers, a myriad of cool floats and a ridiculously catchy soundtrack!
While the additions are a mixed bag, they are worth it in the end thanks to the truly awesome new spectral bride! What are your thoughts on the updated Boo To You Parade? Let us know in the comments below!
